Title of Application: Grammarly
Platform Availability: iOS, Android, Windows, MacOS.
Description and Purpose: Grammarly is designed to provide the user with grammar and writing assistance through different suggestions that include correctness, clarity, engagement, and delivery.
Evaluation: Students can easily install the browser extension on any laptop or phone and the app will always be in use. No matter what the student writes, whether it be an email or an essay, the student’s work will be analyzed by Grammarly to correct it and provide suggestions to improve the student’s writing. Grammarly encourages the development of thinking skills as it helps improve the writing skills students have as they are writing throughout the History course. Students are even provided with an overall performance score and shown suggestions on where they could improve to achieve a score of 100. Students can download a PDF of the report provided by Grammarly and share that with other students or teachers when necessary.
Integration Sample/Ideas: Any teacher can easily implement Grammarly into their course. As a future History teacher, I would implement Grammarly by asking my students to download Grammarly so that they may have extra assistance when completing written assignments. I would also highlight that this not only helps correct written work in things like essays but also emails and other written tasks that they complete on their devices.
